The cliffs are a great place to watch a sunset, although it is popular. If you have a car, it is a good idea to go over the hill (up Famosa St. which turns into Catalina Blvd. after the second traffic light, and then follow it to Point Loma Ave. and turn right.) You can park somewhere near the coast and avoid any sunset watchers traffic. Sunset Cliffs also has an excellent Natural Park at the south end—good for hiking/walking and there is usually parking there.

Balboa Park is a great park to visit for a day. There is a free shuttle which picks up around the park perimeter, so you can park outside and avoid the crowds on busy days. There is much to see and do there, including museums, fountains, flowers, and the famous San Diego Zoo.

Another fun day trip is to drive south and go over the Coronado Bridge to the town of Coronado. This town is famous for its hotel: the Hotel Del Coronado. It is free to walk around there, and there is a great beach adjacent to it

Sea World Fireworks
You may here the Sea World fireworks if it is summer time. They usually go off nightly during the summer either at 8:50 PM or 9:50 PM (on Sat & Sun). It is possible to see them if you walk over to the tennis court which has the play structure on it.
