City/town information

Welcome to Elkton is a small town of approximately 3,000 residents nestled on the east side of Rockingham County, Virginia in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Situated between Massanutten Mountain and Skyline Drive, the connections between our charming town and the rest of the world are endless. Located just a few minutes from Interstate 81 between Harrisonburg and Charlottesville, Elkton is a crossroads for progress and small-town living. History Highlights Named for the Elk Run stream that runs through the Town, Elkton sits directly between both Shenandoah National Park and Massanutten Mountain, home to Massanutten Resort. Along with the natural beauty, the Town is also rich in historic appeal with many of its buildings dating before the Civil War. Conrad’s Store and the Jennings House were leveraged during the war as a post office and a hospital for the Confederate army. However today, the Town is better known for their convenient access to some of Rockingham County’s greatest natural assets. Stunning mountain views, access to the South Fork of the Shenandoah River, and mile after mile of pristine forests in solitude are just some of the reasons mountain bikers and hikers love the quaint community nestled up next to the Shenandoah National Park.

Food scene

6 Minute Drive Welcome to Cave Hill Farms Brewery, which has been in our family since 1759. This 6th generation farm was granted to the Hopkins family by King George II of England in 1759. The 4 main ingredients of beer are hops, barley, water, and yeast. We grow our own barley, hops, and pull water from a family well that has been in our family for generations. This water is known for its rich vitamins and crisp taste. Our slogan is “Old Ways, New Days.” This is due to our lengthy history and sticking to original ingredients just like our ancestors once did. Cave Hill Farms Brewery prides itself for sticking to the basics, and doing so, creating some of the most diverse, unique, and flavorful brews that you have ever tasted.
