Not only the landscape is altered by the production of wine, but also the rhythm of life of the Douro. If the winter is marked by the calm and the quiet, which becomes apparent in the bare vines, the transition from summer to autumn brings the bustle of harvest, with a down and up baskets and pruning shears, the slopes populated by workers. Recognizing the importance of the landscape and traditional activities wine production in 2001 UNESCO classified as World Heritage 24 600 hectares of the Alto Douro Wine Region, spread over 13 municipalities
