The Jacobite steam train passes our door in Lochailort 4 times a day in the summer. Said to be one of the most scenic rail journeys in the world. Starts in Fort William and goes through to Mallaig.

A gentle climb of this mountain - viewed from our conservatory - is rewarded by the most beautiful views overlooking the Western Isles. On a clear day this hike will take around 2-3 hours round trip.

'Loch of the Caves' - famed for it's location as a landing place of Bonnie Prince Charlie. Marked by a cairn. Stunning scenery. A very short drive from Mo-Dhachaidh and good sea fishing from here too.

A unique insight into how the old roads used to be! Just a few miles off the main road at Arisaig will lead you to Rhu. Take a camera and binoculars and look for the seals basking on the rocks

Where I grew up as a kid - mostly in a caravan beside Loch Morar. Off the beaten track and a must see just for the views. At the end of the road you can take one of two amazing walks..uphill or flat.

Good local skiing. Always check online first as to snow and conditions. These can be severe sometimes in the extreme, but quite often there is snow around up till May so early spring is still possible
