Food Scene
The Pantry is known for Czech and German cuisine and street food, as well as really tasty cocktails. All of this magic is served up inside a historic American Foursquare home that has been converted into a bar/restaurant in the charming Hillcrest Historic District. The "truffled deviled eggs", charcuterie, and pommes frites are terrific appetizers, and the schnitzel and lasagna are to die for. For vegans and vegetarians, they have a special menu, with terrific "vegetable lesco" which is a sizzling skillet of potato and tomato and blackened onion heaven. They tend to be open later than most restaurants, and they also offer an outdoor patio that is always a treat to visit.

The cocktails are creative and the atmosphere is brilliant.....a great date night. Their menu is inventive and will transport you straight to the heart of the South, but in a very chic way. This place is always a hit with visitors, with its unique decor and velvety red stage curtains and aura of magic. You'll dig it. They also do LUNCH!

I recommend their turkey reuben sandwich, any soup, and their "milk bread." They also carry vegan treats and other goodies for those with dietary restrictions.

They sell pizza by the slice that is "ok" and whole pizzas which are infinitely better, but still not amazing. This is a place you go to enjoy the local vibe. They have a great two story patio on the back, and all-ages music shows.

This national park (that encompasses a functional high school) marks the site of our city's 1957 desegregation crisis, which became a national touchstone in the ongoing discussion about civil rights in the United States. Visiting takes as little or as long as you'd want it to, and the school building itself is stunning to behold. It is nestled within a diverse and interesting historic neighborhood.

If you have a romantic bone in your body, and/or if you do have adventurous children with you on this trip, take the time to go to North Little Rock to see the "Old Mill," a fake Grist Mill built for the opening credits of "Gone with the Wind." The grounds have beautiful gardens, and the mill has so many places for great photo opportunities. There are dramatic bridges made of faux bois (fake wood) sculpted out of concrete, and you'll also get to see a local "kissing spot" inside of a small bench on one of the bridges, where hundreds of pieces of gum are signs of the tradition of romance.

You want to drink a delicious cocktail from a menu that is 10 pages long inside of a historic bungalow with a large porch? THIS is your place. The food is delicious as well, and the patio can't be beat most any time of the year. I recommend the chocolate martini and the pear kiss. The broccoli cheddar tots are homemade and will float your boat. No tourist would know about this place, so it is great if you seek a good place for conversation in a charming atmosphere.

The food is delicious as well, and the patio can't be beat most any time of the year. I recommend the chocolate martini and the pear kiss. The broccoli cheddar tots are homemade and will float your boat. No tourist would know about this place, so it is great if you seek a good place for conversation in a charming atmosphere.

It might be windy, but the view is spectacular, and it is a fun activity whether you are on foot or on bike. You'll see families, athletes, and lots of cute dogs being walked. On the north shore is "Cook's Landing" a great place to get lost in the woods, with dirt trails that offer shade, and a lengthy paved trail that is part of the "River Trail" that affords a view of the river.
