One of the best and most authentic Italian restaurants in the city. It is a bit of an eclectic dive when you walk in and be prepared for a firey and direct owner/chef to greet you (just smile and do as she says), but be prepared for the best food.

One of the outdoor gems of the LES. Great for running, walking, sightseeing (amazing views of the Williamsburg bridge and Brooklyn), also has athletic fields, amphitheater, tennis courts, bike paths, and kids playgrounds. This also connects with a series of parks that run along the waterfront almost continuously from 14th Street on the East side down around through the financial district into Battery Park and onto the parks on West Side a (very long walk or a fairly easy bike ride).

If you are up for an epic walk with great views, try the Williamsburg bridge, there is lots to do once you arrive on the other side. I would recommend a morning walk and arrive somewhere brunch. It will also be way less crowded than the Brooklyn Bridge.
