Food Scene

Cute coffee shop with great coffee and really nice group of people. Great for a morning cup or to sit and do some work. Started by a few friends who moved to NYC from New Jersey, and they all work there. Occasionally host art events, ask them about what’s going on. I like the avocado toast with egg and a coffee in the morning.

Roberta’s is a Bushwick icon with amazing pizza. It’s one of the first restaurants in the area that’s now internationally owned. Ethiopian Vegan restaurant with very reasonably priced and delicious food. Smokey Ethiopian coffee ceremonies performed Wed 6pm, Fri 6pm, Sat 5pm, Sun 5pm with free coffee. I also highly recommend their brunch on the weekends. Say hi to DJ Jah on sunday for me, catch live music on Wednesdays.

My favorite little family owned taco place in the neighborhood. There are a million taco places in the area but this is the best one. Really cheap and quick eats.

Fun market in the Lower East side with a number of food vendors. My favorites are the salmon sandwiches at Rainbow Fish and the vegan bento boxes at Ni Japanese deli.

24 hour korean grocery with the cheapest prices and a really awesome juice bar… 4 dollars gets you a big cup of juice, and they always make too much so they refill a portion of your cup! I love Mr Lemon, like for real. JUICE: Pay at the register. Take the ticket to the juice bar, and select which fruits and veggies you want. Take a sip of the filled cup, and they will refill it with more juice!

Parks & Nature

This park is little known to visitors to the city, but it's one of my favorites and worth the trip, especially for one of the days you could use a break from the hustle and bustle of New York city. Beautiful park, amazing views of the Hudson River and the Palisades, and the Cloisters Museum which features pieces of European churches and castles brought over by the Rockefeller family.

This park is little known to visitors to the city, but it's one of my favorites and worth the trip, especially for one of the days you could use a break from the hustle and bustle of New York city. Best place to view the sunset over the downtown Manhattan skyline, and grab something to eat.
