Great for lunch, brunch, or dinner! Nashville-style hot chicken (with milder flavors if you don't like spicy) and some of the best biscuits you'll ever have.

Drinks & Nightlife

The coolest brewery in town, Central Standard Brewing has won awards at the Great American Beer Festival and features a great, laid-back atmosphere. They often have live music and special events. Even better, the owners live right across the street from the house at the corner of Fountain & English!

Sightseeing

The Keeper of the Plains is Wichita's greatest icon. Designed by local Native American artist Blackbear Bosin, the 44' tall statue and the surrounding plaza reflect the city's native heritage and inform about our past. There is a nice riverwalk along it, with pedestrian bridges with great views of downtown. Be sure to check it out at 9pm, when the fire pots light up!

Arts & Culture

On the Final Friday of every month, local artists and galleries keep their doors open late to invite thousands of Wichitans and visitors to see the latest exhibitions. Commerce Street, just south of INTRUST Bank Arena downtown, is the epicenter of Wichita's thriving local art scene. The rest of the month, the Museum of World Treasures features a funky, one-of-a-kind collection in Old Town. The Wichita Art Museum (free on Saturdays), Cowtown (free on Sundays), and the Mid-American All-Indian Center make up the Museums on the River, each sharing their own part of Wichita's history and culture.

Shopping

The Workroom is the quintessential local Wichita shop. The back half is an operating sewing workroom, while the front half carries a diverse line of eclectic home goods, decor, and souvenirs--including the best selection of Wichita Flag paraphernalia. Owner Janelle King is also a local celebrity due to her community involvement -- if she's in the shop when you go, ask her recommendations on cool events and happenings going on during your stay! Just a few blocks away from The Workroom on 2nd Street is Vortex Souvenir, which carries design-centric souvenirs, home decor, art supplies, and more, run by two of Wichita's most talented local artists!
