Our local coffee shop. It's owned by a wonderful young couple, Chris and Victoria Mekas, and, in addition to great coffee, they have a lot of seating and it's a great place to sit and relax.

Our local A&W is a nice throwback to the 1950's or so. Excellent, inexpensive food in a very quaint and old-fashioned environment.

Quite surprisingly, we have an incredible Asian fusion restaurant that is elegantly designed and can compete with anything in Detroit or Chicago in terms of great Asian cuisine.

A very nice local art gallery that is a bit hidden and does not get discovered by many tourists. The building used to be the Coast Guard station and is both beautiful and historical.

An excellent health and fitness center with an abundant supply of weights and machines. They also offer a wide variety of fitness classes. (The location is slightly hidden, but worth finding.)

The nearest ski resort to Frankfort. It is only 17 miles (about a 20-minute drive) from the cottage. It's relatively inexpensive compared with Boyne and other places and has a great variety of runs.

Our local movie theater. It's in a beautiful historical building that has been very nicely redone. The couple that run things are super nice and they have great popcorn with REAL butter.

The best mall in northern Michigan. Perhaps still not much if you are from a larger city, but for us it is a large and lovely place for shopping.

Our local, family-owned pharmacy. The owners and workers are very nice and friendly people and they have a lot of "5 and dime" type offerings as well.

Sightseeing
The biggest attraction in the area. It's huge with an excellent variety of places for hiking, scenic drives, and camping. Can easily spend 1 to 2 full days exploring all that is there.

A lovely, peaceful, and rather remote state park. There's a picturesque lighthouse there. It's a bit of a drive from the cottage, but the drive itself is also very nice.
