Progreso, is a 45 minute drive from Centro Merida, it's on the Gulf of Mexico. The water isn't as nice as the Caribbean but there are some nice restaurants and lots of sun and wind for getting that holiday tan.

Mr. Pampas is a Brazilian Restaurant, this is an amazing place; It has a wonderful buffet with salads and more. There is a wheel on the table that you turn to YES when you want the amazing meat delivered to your table, the waiters will flock to your table with meat hot off the rotisserie, and they slice off the exact amount you would like. Are you getting full? Turn the wheel to NO, take a rest. When you are ready to start again, change to YES... This is one of the best restaurants in Merida. WARNING: Wear a sweater; it can be a little too cool for our liking. In addition, it can be a little loud, but hey, it's Mexico.

This restaurant has a huge beautiful tree in the courtyard. We just love the atmosphere. There are many wonderful restaurants in Merida to choose from, but this was our first love.

Entertainment & Activities
Centro Merida and Paseo de Montejo have all that you need for enjoying the beautiful nights in Merida. Enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride from Centro along the beautiful Avenue of Paseo de Montejo and back to where they picked you up. We highly recommend you do this. The longer we are here the more we are sure to find; but so far this is perfect for us.

Centro Merida and Paseo de Montejo have all that you need for enjoying the beautiful nights in Merida. The longer we are here the more we are sure to find; but so far this is perfect for us.
This is the home field for the "Leones de Yucatan” Mexican League baseball team. Lots of loud music at the park, they also sell food and drinks. If you are a smoker, leave them in the car or you will be asked to throw them and your lighter if you brought one in a big pile, when game is over you can go through the pile looking for what you left behind if you want, easier to just leave them in the car.

This is the home field for the "Leones de Yucatan” Mexican League baseball team. Lots of loud music at the park, they also sell food and drinks. If you are a smoker, leave them in the car or you will be asked to throw them and your lighter if you brought one in a big pile, when game is over you can go through the pile looking for what you left behind if you want, easier to just leave them in the car.

Check it out; what a beautiful theater, even our grandchildren were impressed. In addition, Peon Contreras has a cafe/ restaurant on the south side of the building. Many tables are set up outside for you to sit and enjoy the evening breeze under a huge tree while sipping on a pina colada, enjoying a beer or a cappuccino. We have met many a good friends at this place.

Besides the beautiful mansions and museums, this Avenue has so much history. A must see... At Christmas this place is spectacular, right up until about the 10th of January when they take down the tree and lights, it's still spectacular anytime of the year.

I could not get the store to come up on screen that I use the most. It is Mega Comercial Mexicana on Circuito Colonias 275 Merida. Now these are grocery stores… You can buy anything, just like Costco, they even have a dry cleaner at this location.

Katharine found this place...an excellent place where you can do your own laundry. We go there for big items. We have our own washer and dryer that you can use for a reasonable fee.

This is our Veterinarian in Merida. One of the Doctors speaks English; they are all very helpful and nice. Also provided is grooming for your pet (Excellent job, great price) we also met a nice young couple in Merida that run a kennel, they are amazing. Getting Around
We use ADO when traveling from Cancun to Merida. Merida also has many taxi drivers (Our housekeepers husband) owns a brand new taxi and he would be happy to have you hire him for a day to take you anywhere you want. If he's busy there is always Uber. We also have public transit right outside our door every 15-20 minutes. We wouldn't recommend driving in Merida Mexico, as I said on my welcome page, unless you are fearless I wouldn't drive here. We sat for hours watching how they drove here in Merida, just to get a feel for it. It was nerve racking. You can rent vehicles if you still feel brave.
