Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
We don’t typically visit this place, but it’s a tourist favorite to hike up, then run down the dunes. It’s right across the street from where you are staying, so it’s a definite “must see” while you are at Sandy Haven.
Hiking, picnicking, swimming, Take water bottle, it can be very warm during the summer, cold during winter month. Beautiful!
A must. A full day trip so plan accordingly. Plenty of hiking options. Stop at the visitor center for info and maps. ABC voted this as one of America’s most beautiful areas.
About an hour and a half from the Lodge, but WELL WORTH the drive out for a day trip. Beautiful scenery and a must-see. Not for the faint of heart, some of the dunes are very steep. (Although there are a few easier slopes / walking trails!)
“Time for a movie?! The Cherry Blossom has IMAX or regular screens. 14 screens to choose from! ”
“Great little theater on the bay about a 10 minute walk from the Loft. Cheap tickets and popcorn and about 100 recliner seats. Very cozy!”
“Renovated theater house showing current movies. Has frequent specials. Recommend to check the website. www.stateandbijou.org”
