The place is taking a visitor to back to as far as year 1218. Even if not particularly interested in history it's worth visiting the castle area for the sake of vibe.

The Bishop´s Castle in Haapsalu dates back to 1279 and is impressive for both adults and children. Explore the museum and climb up the tower to get a bird´s eye view of Haapsalu. See the Cathedral and ponder on the tale of the white Lady showing herself in one of the windows the first fullmoon night in August every year. There are Lutheran church services at 10 on Sundays in the Cathedral, and occasionally there are concerts.

The fortress is a 8-min walk away and very much worth visiting. If you do not wish to go inside, you could also take a walk outside in the fortress park.
