Situated at between La Cala de Mijas and Fuengirola Santana Golf Course and Country Club lies with breathtaking views of the Mijas mountains, close to the Mediterranean sea. Set within groves of oranges and avocados, truly a place where 'nature and golf are one'. Santana Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole par-72 course of approximately 6,308 metres in length, running over 55 hectares of smooth terrain. It was not necessary for the architect, Cabell B. Robinson, to make big changes in the arrangement of the grounds, because the original layout allowed for a straightforward solution to the problems of design. The end result has been a long course with wide, well-defined fairways running over flat terrain, easy to walk round, and with a strong presence of water all the way around. There are 4 tees for each hole, two for competition and two normal tees, both for gentlemen and for ladies, with wide putting surfaces and flanked by strategically placed, carefully maintained sand traps. The course has plenty of wide paths for buggies attractively hidden behind rows of beautiful fruit trees. However, the avocado tree (or Persea índica, its scientific name) is not the only tree on the course, as there are numerous other species such as the eucalyptus, orange tree, lemon tree, cactus, pine tree, fig tree, olive tree, mango and many others which form part of the varied flora of this beautiful enclave, not to mention the immense variety of birdlife which also inhabits the estate, including a magnificent booted eagle. The cork trees on the 5th hole are worth a special mention as they are more than 500 hundred years old, and the beautiful setting of the course, set as it is in the heart of nature, impresses the visitor with a sense of maturity, of durability and timelessness . But it is not only the beauty of the scenery and the flora and fauna of which it is made up which will impress the player, because the golf course itself is endowed with features which will satisfy the most demanding golfer. The course was built using the most advanced resources available in the market, such as the modern irrigation system or the extensive and advanced drainage system, which means the number of days that the course is closed due to inclement weather is reduced to a bare minimum. Technically speaking, the course is very interesting, because the layout of each hole has been carefully studied so as to present a continuous challenge to the most experienced players. The arrangement of the greens, which are well protected by threatening sand traps, and the many water hazards distributed over the length of the course will really put the player’s ability to the test, and he or she will be forced to employ their full repertoire of shots, both long and short, and will need a large dose of accuracy.

Santana Golf is an 18 Hole golf course par 72 of approx. 6207 metres in length, set in 138 acres of picturesque parkland. Each hole has two championship tees and two tees for general play for both men and ladies – wide and well manicured putting greens surrounded by strategically placed bunkers, filled with sand produced from crushed marble. Buggy paths are provided throughout the course, beautifully integrated between the rows of fruit trees.
