Finding a new location for a hearty breakfast in Taupo is always an enjoyable challenge. A hard job, but if someone’s got to do it… my partner and I will do it! The Spoon & Paddle Café is located on the corner of Heuheu and Titiraupenga Streets in central Taupo, approximately 5 minutes walk from the famous Hole in One Golf lakefront attraction. The menu is comprehensive including Gluten and Dairy Free options. I went for my standard Scrambled Eggs & Bacon on Sourdough (NZ$15), while Karen went for the Cape Seed Toast, Smashed Avocado & Poached Egg (NZ$16.50). To top the meal off we both had a Flat White coffee. The staff were incredibly friendly and our meals delicious.

This cafe is situated on the outskirts of town. We started this little cafe in 2015 and only sold it a year ago. The Ginger bread brioche is a must try as well as their pork steamed buns. There is lots of parking around the cafe as well as their own parking around the back. Nice garden to sit in and a great veiw of the lake inside. It is open breakfast and lunch.

Lovely daytime cafe with yummy breakfast/lunch spreads and good coffee. Retro indoor seating and an outdoor area under mature trees. Friendly staff. Highly recommend their Lamb Shoulder Tortillas.
