I can recommend a lovely circular walk from Cwm Ivy coffee shop down to Whiteford sands and back. About 7miles. Absolutely stunningly gorgeous. Very far around the peninsula, however. So it may be hard to get to without a car.

The most magical of walks on the Northen side of Gower. Park in Cwm Ivy and pay in the honesty box at the gate, walk down through the pine forest and over the burrows, if you're lucky you'll see the wild ponies grazing in their herd. You then walk along the long and exposed beach to the lighthouse. Check the tides, and only ever walk on a low tide as the lighthouse is in an estuary that can rise very quickly! I do this walk lots with my daughter but it is a long one, for little legs! There is a gorgeous cafe in the village of Cwm Ivy. Serving hot drinks,yummy food and cakes. One of my favorite walks and stop offs! The Britania pub on your way home also serves in my opinion, the best home cooked pub grub on Gower. Also in my guidebook.

A chance to see the northern side of the Gower; very different in character to the beaches of the south. Whitford Lighthouse is situated on the Loughor Estuary and can be accessed via Cwm Ivy Nature Reserve. Its a lovely area to explore. You can walk out to the lighthouse itself but only on a low tide. Take care - the tide sweeps in quickly and people do get cut off.

In order to view the lighthouse from the Gower, the nicest walk from Llanmadoc through Cwm Ivy woods, onto Whiteford Sands, a lovely secluded beach on the quieter north side of the Gower.
