Moonlight State Beach
Moonlight beach's features are pretty unique for the area. There are some nice lookouts away from the sand where you can enjoy the views sans sand, nearby coffee and ice cream shops to grab a refreshment before heading down to the water, bonfire pits, bathrooms, showers, lifeguard station, snack…
Very popular beach but great for families with kids. On site playground, water rentals, and restrooms.
Moonlight Beach is a great local beach, as it has showers, bathrooms, snackbar and an area to rent boogie boards and more. It also has Vollyball courts & free Summer Concerts ~ every Sunday ~from July 3-Aug 31st.
It is a simple 15 minute walk from the Casita. Food is available during the summer. There are volleyball courts, a kids play area, bathrooms and showers. The lifeguards are there year round.
This is a very popular beach. I actually prefer to go to other beaches like Swami's to the south a mile or two away. Still, this is a good starting point. You can walk for miles in either direction from here if the tide is not high. You can swim, surf, boogie board, or just take it easy.
“The best burgers in town. Tuesday is 2 for 1 deal. Gets slightly packed. They also have about 100 beers to choose from.”
“You hit the farm to table jackpot here! Follow my instructions and you will be happy: 1) Heirloom Popcorn appetizer 2) Pick a Salad 3) Pick a Pizza (We love the white one and the my father's) 4) Save room for the dessert This place is worth the wait on a Friday or Saturday night. “In the downtown area of Encinitas, you always know what you're getting with Whole Foods. Quality food and products - though their prices are above regular grocery stores. ”
“Great weekend brunch spot. Awesome happy hour. Live music on Sunday evenings.”
