If you enjoy learning about local history and culture, you may want to visit the Basque Museum and surrounding Basque district. The Boise area is home to one of the largest groups of the Basque people, outside of their own homeland. The museum & cultural center will educate you on their history and culture, and then you can dine at one of the local Basque restaurants.

Boise boasts the largest Basque population outside of Spain. Every five years the Jaialdi celebration is held in Boise (next in 2022 due to the pandemic) and it's a must-do event. You can get your history fix at the Basque Museum and Cultural Center any day, though!

A trip to Boise has to include a walk around the Basque Block, the cultural center is only a part of it. Stop by the nearby Basque eateries and bars.

Poke your head in here to learn about the Basque history in Boise. The entire Basque Block is great including the Basque Market, Basque Center, Gernika etc.
