Reflections at Bukit Chandu is a World War II interpretive centre, honouring the heroism of the 1,400 soldiers from the Malay Regiment who stood up against a 13,000-strong Japanese Army in the Battle of Pasir Panjang. The serenity of this place makes it almost impossible to believe that one of the fiercest battles in Singapore history took place in the area. Reflections at Bukit Chandu is a World War II interpretative centre housed in a restored black and white colonial bungalow close to the former battle site – the Battle of Pasir Panjang, where 1,400 brave soldiers from the Malay Regiment heroically defended the last stand against a 13,000-strong Japanese army. The centre is a place for visitors to reflect upon Singapore’s heritage of heroism. The presentation, through artefacts, exhibits and multi-media, invites visitors to contemplate about Singapore’s war experience and to discover how far Singapore has come as a nation.
