The filet with blueberry reduction sauce 😍. Also all of their pasta is hand made and you can’t go wrong with it. The original sister restaurant is in Florence and is amazing!
Acqua Al is good date night Italian restaurant near Eastern Market. (10 block walk or a short Uber ride). They also operate a “speakeasy” called Harold Black upstairs that requires reservations if you want to get a craft drink in a unique setting after dinner.
Authentic Italian restaurant with an incredible wine list. Reservations usually needed.
Iconic Italian restaurant in Eastern Market. Try the pasta sampler and/or the steak sampler, which rotate frequently.
“This is a great French restaurant. Perfect for special occasions, brunch or just a drink. We love to seat at the bar or in the patio when we are with the rest of the family.”
“You go here because the pizza happy hour is the best I've ever seen. From 5pm to 6:30pm you get $5 pizzas. Enough to feed one really hungry person or two less hungry people. It's good pizza, but I'm not going to oversell it. The best way to describe it is that it's very high-floor pizza. No reservations and the place is crazy busy during dinner time because lots of families go there with their kids. ”
“Reliably great food and great for families - try their homemade pop tarts or adult milkshakes!”
“Eastern Market is a historic market, built in 1873 as part of Pierre L’Enfant’s design for the city to include local neighborhood markets throughout the city. The architect of Eastern Market, Adolph Cluss, was the same architect who designed the Smithsonian Arts and Industries Building (the Smithsonian “castle” on the Mall!). The Market is open daily from 7am – 7pm (closed on Monday), and includes vendors who sell fresh local fish, meats, cheeses, flowers, and local goods. The big draw for the Market, however, is the weekend artisan market in which hundreds of DC’s local artists and crafters set up tents to sell their beautiful and artsy products. 7th street is closed down and it is a lot of fun! The artisan market is from 9am – 5pm each Saturday and Sunday. The Market Lunch is a cafe in the Market that serves a great breakfast - be sure to check it out! The “blue bucks” pancakes (blueberry buckwheat pancakes) are amazing and “the brick” is their famous breakfast sandwich.”
