Gordon’s is the oldest wine bar in London. It has a bar in a cellar with low ceilings and lots of candles, so it’s very cosy and intimate, plus it’s filled with history, so you know conversation will flow well into the night. And because it’s right in the city, you can follow up with a walk along the South Bank—the London Eye looks magical at night. One of the delicious cheese-and-wine pairings. Gordon’s has over 20 cheeses from around the world and an unusual wine list with options from Hungary and India.
An intimate underground setting with a great choice of wine and cheese. Perfect getaway from rainy London days.
one of you should go straight to the cave and hover around tables for a spot. Do not hesitate to ask to share table. The other person can dutifully get a glass. Busy but helpful, knoedgeable bar staff.
It's London's oldest wine bar. Next to Embankment and close to Trafalgar Square. It's a wonderfully atmospheric cellar bar. There's outdoor seating too.
“Oldest restaurant in England. Serves specialty game meat. Traditional british food. May not be to everyone's tastes, but it is a special place”
“Super simple steak restaurant and very well priced. Keep in mind that they do not take reservations and waiting for a table can take up to 90 minutes. Good to drop in your name then grab a drink :)”
“Restaurant or coffee and pastry place according to the time you go. It is an experience to eat in the crypt of this famous church!”
“Near the South Bank so great for the London Eye or theatres on that side of the river. Incredibly cheap, but truly wonderful Thai food served in plain but clean surroundings. And you can also get a fry up in the mornings. Of course you can. Full of locals. Bring your own bottle. A fiver is all you need for a really good meal :-)”
