El Cotillo is a old fishing village now turned over mostly to tourism, due to it's incredible location and fantastic range of beaches. The surf beach is a lovely gentle beach break good for surfing (with a board of body-surf), bodyboarding and even kiting when the wind is up. At the other end of the village are the lagoons and associated beach. Small, warm pools filled by the sea where it's fun to paddle and easy and safe to swim. Walk on further past the lagoons and you'll find El Toston, the lighthouse that warns ships about the volcanic reefs to the north of the town. The town has various shops and supermarkets and an abundance of places to eat and drink. El Cotillo is a taste of the old life on the island. A must visit location in the North of Fuerteventura.

El Cotillo is a local fishing village with a spectacular coastline of beaches, lagoons & crystal clear waters. In the village you'll find some delicious local fish restaurants, tapas bars. In the summer time you'll find all the locals, especially the children jumping from the stone pier in the centre of the village.

The small town of El Cotillo is a MUST to visit. An old fishing village with lots of the original houses located around the small port. La Concha beach, (lagoon) is a half moon beach sheltered by a natural lava reef is pristine but conveniently close to a small town. This is undoubtedly one of the best beaches in the Canaries with fine, white sand, calm, clear water and abundant marine life. You can also take a walk, or drive, over to Tostón Lighthouse which is an active lighthouse and operates a café during peak season. This area too is great for snorkelling and reef exploring. Our favourite restaurant on the island is here at the lagoons, Sottovento, serving amazing Italian food.
