Old Rag Mountain
One of the most popular and dangerous of the hikes in the Shenandoah national park. This hike won’t disappoint but do your research and be prepared.
Easily our favorite hike in Central Virginia. Will take up a good chunk of the day and requires quite a bit of exertion, especially near the top where you get to boulder for roughly a mile to the summit.
Old Rag is a favorite local hike for those who are looking for a more challenging experience. It is around 9 miles and includes a rock scramble and significant elevation changes. The ranger station is a beautiful 80 minute drive from Summit Escape.
This place is a solid 5 hour strenuous hike, but man once you get to the top its epic. You get a full 360 degree view and on a clear day can see all the other mountain ranges. It's incredible.
