Restaurant in Shenandoah Nat'l Park about 10 miles south of the Thorton Gap entrance point on Skyline Drive. Big picture windows looking out over the mountains. Good food and a taproom. It's very popular and people line up at the door before they open for lunch (perhaps for breakfast and dinner as well, but I don't know first-hand). You may have to wait if you arrive later. They do close between dining periods; check their website for details.

OPEN SEASONALLY so check dates first! A worthwhile stop at the Skyland Lodge while you are cruising Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. Okay views (big trees blocking). Limited menu, not a bad thing, as they specialize in some things. Dinner menu expands to include pot roast. The turkey dinner didn't bowl us over, but is popular. Next time, I'll go for the fried chicken. Outstanding desserts including their famous BlackBerry ice cream pie. After, walk the close-by 1.3 mile Limberlost Trail (easy with gentle ups and downs, lots if benches).
