Montrose Basin is an enclosed estuary of the river South Esk covering 750 hectares, home to over 80,000 migratory birds – including pink-footed geese, Arctic terns, knots and sedge warblers.

Just a quick car run and you are at the visitor centre, run by well informed rangers, from the viewing station you can shelter and watch the different birdlife arrive , leave , feed nest so much activity never boring a great educational day out for the family. Guided walks with the ranger can be arranged.
