One of our favorite places, we nearly went there every day. you just take a water taxi from the boardwalk to Cay Island and enjoy the day. you can also rent chairs and umbrellas, the restaurant there has amazing burgers!

Protestant Cay Beach is located at Hotel on the Cay (pronounced ‘key’) on Protestant Cay. This small island is located in the Christiansted Harbor, just off downtown Christiansted. It is accessible by a short ferry ride that departs from the Boardwalk near Fort Christianvaern for a small fee. Protestant Cay provides the only downtown Christiansted beach access, so it is a great option if you are staying in town. There are plenty of lounge chairs available to rent and palm trees to provide shade. The water is shallow with a sandy bottom. This is a great beach for kids and for swimming, as the water is usually fairly calm. The northern part of the cay also offers some great snorkeling. Keep your eyes open for starfish, schools of juvenile fish, conch, and more.

Protestant Cay is a four-acre triangular islet in the Christiansted Harbor, 200 yards north of Christiansted. The island is home to a resort, the Hotel on the Cay, which is home to a protected sand beach, small shop and beach bar. It also has the closest beach to Downtown Christiansted. With one of the ferries, which run from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m., every ten minutes (subject to change), it will only take about two minutes to get there. The ride costs $5 round-trip (prices subject to change). To get on the ferry, passengers have to stand near the boardwalk in front of the King Christian Hotel and wave to the boat captain on-duty.

Great in-town spot to relax on a beach , with easy access to Hotel on the Cay restaurant and water toys. The ($5+tip) water ferry to the key is on the boardwalk, about 2-3 minutes down the hill on foot. The ferry takes only a minute to cross Christiansted Harbor to the Cay, so it is an easy outing.
