Larnach Castle is a mock castle on the ridge of the Otago Peninsula within the limits of the city of Dunedin, New Zealand, close to the small settlement of Pukehiki. It is one of a few houses of this scale in New Zealand.
Our castle (its a little one but its worth the trip). Restored over many years by one family the drive up gives wonderful views. The grounds are beautiful and the castle has tales to tell.
Situated on the picturesque Otago Peninsula, Larnach Castle is one of New Zealand’s premier visitor attractions. Lovingly restored by the Barker Family, the Castle and surrounding grounds are at the heart of the Dunedin visitor experience.
“Great place to visit with kids - discovery world and the butterflies are sure to be a winner. ”
“Beautiful historic home and gardens, you'll walk right past if you take the "quiet path" to university/stadium. Several tours daily, for a fee.”
“Saturday morning at the railway station from 8am. The tart tin man has amazing treats otherwise the bacon butties are good. ”
