When Munch died in January 1944, it transpired that he had unconditionally bequeathed all his remaining works to the City of Oslo. The Munch Museum opened in 1963 and was purpose-built to house this unique collection of approximately 1100 paintings, 4500 drawings and 18 000 prints.

“Torggata is a street in central Oslo known for its many restaurants and bars. In this one fairly short street, reserved for pedestrians and bicycle riders, you can find everything from Starbucks coffee to bubble tea, from kebabs to fine dining, and from trendy fashion to a dedicated cap store. The street that used to be just another street has become a destination in itself, as well a natural link between the trendy Grünerløkka and the vibrant Youngstorget. Torggata and its side streets offer restaurants like Arakataka and Taco República, bars like Tilt and Café Sara, and the brewery/bar Crowbar. Just around the corner you can find large concert venues like Sentrum Scene, Rockefeller and John Dee, making Torggata and its surrounding area a versatile destination that offers something for everyone.”
