The style of the environment is a neoclassical and republican mixture expressed in the surrounding buildings and in the one that surrounds the Plaza de Santo Domingo, which constitute an urban element that allows to visualize and highlight this building. The main altar is in the neo-Gothic style, which was placed at the end of the 19th century by Italian Dominicans. The ceiling of the church, in the Mudejar style, has paintings of martyrs of the Order of Santo Domingo. The roof of the central nave is made up of a pair and knuckle armor, covered on the inside by pieces of lace.

Standing grandly over a broad plaza, Santo Domingo Church represents one of Quito's most important religious structures. Dominicans built the original structure in 1540, which Italian priests later modified in the 19th century; the result is a visible mixture of styles throughout.
