The island of Hvar is a city rich in history. The sunniest island on the Adriatic that everyone should visit. Hvar can be reached by ferry from Split. Be sure to visit: the fort, the Hvar cathedral, the Franciscan monastery, etc. Hvar also has beautiful coves where you should go for a swim and enjoy the fairytale town.

Island Hvar – some facts: • In July 2004. an international research team found traces of dinosaurus that lived 90 million years ago on Hvar. The entire project was funded by the Research Committee of the National Geographic Society of Washington. • Hvar is our sunniest island with over 2.700,00 hours of sunshine a year. • These years mark the 150th anniversary of tourism on Hvar, which is the most visited Croatian island in the summer and winter months. • It was named the best island in Europe by „Conde Nast Traveler“ (luxury and lifestyle travel magazine) in 2021. • In past, lavender fields on Hvar were the largest in Europe and were used to make lavender oil. Even today, lavender still remains a trademark of Hvar. Some of attractions of Hvar worth sightseeing: • Pakleni islands- the group of 20 islands and rocks spreading in front of the Hvar town is called Pakleni islands (Paklinski), and it is a unique and most recognisable natural beauty of Hvar. Today it represent very popular Hvar tourist excursion resort. • Fortress Fortica (Španjola)- has been built on the hill above the old part of the city of Hvar in the middle of 16 century and has a spectacular view of the Hvar town, its surroundings and the nearby islands. • Hvar cathedral- it is dedicated to Sv. Stjepan (St. Stephen) the Pope and Martyr- protector of the diocese and the Hvar city. • Hvar Theater- one of the first public theathers in Europe established in 1612. • Benedictian convent- exists in Hvar since 1664 and today it is well known for its lace (made from agava tree) which is unique in the world. The knowledge of making the lace has been traditionally passed to next generations for almost 130 years.

Where my party people at?! Hvar. Place for gourmets and partygoers. Great food, great music, and non stop fun. For families I recommend "Jelsa" and "Sućuraj" known for crystal clean sea.

From Makarska, if you want to visit the island of Hvar, you will have to go a little further south, to Drvenik, from where a trajekt takes you to Sućuraj on the island of Hvar.

Charming old town in the island of Hvar. You have a connection with a speed boat (1 hour and 30 minutes). Definitely go.
