Closest independent coffee place and is a major meetup place in Placerville. I like it because they also do smoothies.

"The Cozmic Cafe is Placerville’s hub for the arts, fine coffees, ethical foods, micro-brews, wine and live music." This is an awesome place. Historic building used to be "Placerville Soda Works," great breakfasts, lunches, coffees and espressos and smoothies... Go to the Farmer's market across the street on Saturdays and hit them on the way in or out for coffee, a yummy breakfast burrito, or lunch. Have your lunch in one of the mine shafts that are dug into the hillside. It is really pretty cool. They have tons of events and live music upstairs. They can get some pretty interesting music and events there--sometimes Tibetan monks creating a huge sand mandala, yoga, children's story telling, bands you've never heard of... Best to call them since their web site is often not up to date.

Cozmic is a coffee house/cafe but also has beer on tap, live music, poetry readings, dancing, and a lot of local artwork on the walls.
