Malanda Falls, on the North Johnstone River, tumbles over basalt rock formed by an ancient lava flow that spread from the Mount Hypipamee area 15km away. There are two short walks through the surrounding remnant rainforest. More information: www.npsr.qld.gov.au/parks/malanda-falls

Good coffee, home cooked food, near Malanda waterfall and swimming hole and next to information centre. Near rainforest walk where you might spot a tree kangaroo.

Malanda falls is a great place to take a swim, have a bbq or just soak up the natural surroundings. The nearby tea house provides light meals, tea, coffee and cakes. Guided tours through the nearby forest are also available.

Beautiful walks, swimming picnic tables- spot a platypus. Interpretive walks with local Njadjon indigenous guide.
