One of the great national parks in the U.S. Skyline Drive provides and easy way to go through the park and stop to see the many beautiful vistas. The Swift Run Gap entrance is just a 30 minute drive from the cabin.
Naturally. Another one of our favorite places on earth. Endless views, trails, waterfalls, hikes.... We are 15 minutes drive to the Park's mid-point, so mosey up to Front Royal slong the Skyline Drive or down to the north entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Access from Route 33 - Use hikingupward.com or the AllTrails mobile app to find the perfect hike in Shenandoah National Park or the George Washington National Forest.
Hiking: Dark Hallow falls and Bear fence are two of my favorites Picnicking: Big Meadows has the most delicious raspberry ice cream Driving: Take the skyline drive and stop at the many lookouts along the way
What more is there to say? There is a fee for the park. The skyline drive will take you to the park. About 10 miles away!
This is only an hour away and has hundreds of miles of trail to hike. A very easy day-trip or even overnight if you would like to camp!
“Naturally. One of our favorite places on earth.... We are 50+ minutes drive to the Parkway's north entrance.”
Grocery or Supermarket
“Loads of bulk foods and spices. Great selection of fresh salads. I love the broccoli cauliflower slaw. Matt loves the chocolate pie. Luke and Grammy love the canned vanilla peaches. Virginia Lee loves all the jello salads! Fresh deli sandwiches made to order. Baked goods, breads and cookies. There is also a petting zoo and goat walk ways.”
“LOTS to do all year long. Ski & skate in winter. Golf and go carts, a water park, extreme mountain biking and more!”
“I'm personally not a wine drinker, however this place has a lot of different events and a nice atmosphere....and it's my grandmother's homeplace! :-)”
Point of Interest
“100% worth driving to Staunton. The intimate nature of the theater space connects the audience and actors in a magical way. We’ve enjoyed both Emma and Much Ado About Nothing and are looking forward to Othello and Twelfth Night during the summer 2020 season. Reasonably well behaved children ages 7 and up are welcome. Also, there’s a lovely little coffee shop that serves lunch literally just around the corner which makes a nice place to grab a bite before driving back. ”
