Odiorne Point State Park
Lots of great walking paths. Walk beside the remnants of Fort Dearborn. Bring some lunch and enjoy a nice picnic next to the ocean.
Some of the best picnic spots are oceanfront on a grassy hill. The park also has a nice series of trails that follow the water, historic military occupation sites and the Seacoast Science Center museum.
“Nicely curated art exhibits from time to time, a wonderful film of the history of Portsmouth. The center for African American art is wonderful! ”
“Outdoor swimming pool in the summer. Nice view of the harbor and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.”
“Pawtuckaway State Park + Lake is 5,000 acres of preservation land with 32 miles of hiking trails. Fun Fact: Pawtuckaway mountains are a small rocky circular range that form the outline of an ancient Cretaceous Period volcanic ring. ”
“Lots of well maintained trails through the woods, a fire tower to climb and treasures to find (geocaching). Historical connection to the barn house as some of the current park was donated by the Jewell family who built the original barn.”
