We designed Union League Cafe to capture the conviviality and old world charm of a Parisian brasserie— less formal, more lively, unpressured but with impeccable attention to memorable food, wine and service. Fine cuisine—cuisine gastronomique—is a product of passion, intelligence and standards; an art that depends on an exacting eye and palate. This is what guides us every day and what we love to share with our customers—new and loyal alike. La Terrasse at Union League Cafe serves up views of the historic Sherman’s Alley and locally sourced cuisine in an effortlessly romantic setting (outside and more casual than the dining room). Whether you want to enjoy casual bar bites, towers of fresh shellfish and perfectly shucked oysters or sip some bubbly before a full dining menu, the outside Terrasse is the perfect place. *In case of rain or bad weather, your party can be accommodated in our Clubroom. Our full menu is also available outside.
If you are looking for something a little nicer, this French restaurant is the place!
“For the hipsters. The shops on Broadway and Chapel Street in New Haven are very fun. SO many great restaurants too. You can't go wrong.”
Grocery or Supermarket
“We hate to say it, but sometimes the local grocery doesn't have that brand you like at the price you can afford. If they don't, try Stop & Shop. They have a huge selection of groceries at affordable prices. ”
“This is a family run, owned, and operated restaurant and it shows! The family is so welcoming and kind to every guest, and the food is affordable, authentic Italian fare. Hyatus recommends the warm bread while you wait on the tasty meatballs. ”
“The best bread in New Haven! This great cafe/bookstore has been in New Haven for decades. It is in the ground floor of the British Art Museum which makes for a nice combination of activities on a rainy day. The British Art Museum is free also!”
