Great seafood, kind of tapas spot!

Located a couple of blocks north of Av 28 de Julio, just east of the Vía Expresa, this charming take-out place has gorgeous causas and fresh seafood specialties such as pulpo al olivo (octopus in olive sauce) and choros a la chalaca (mussels with a corn and tomato salsa) served in tapas-sized portions. A few stools accommodate diners.

FISH AND SEAFOOD AND MEAT - La Preferida is a Must. (La Preferred) is the perfect place for a tasting of the different seafood, flavors, and combinations. It has a bar with a small version of each Peruvian seafood recipe. The local people are very friendly and recommend which ones to try. They also have a la carte food and a restaurant. Close to Retiro Park No. 2, which we recommend visiting!

If you want great seafood tapas (served in their own purple shells) or an amazing ceviche, this small restaurant has been serving the best of both since 1956. Go early (around noon) to avoid a long line: Peruvians flock to good food, so by about 2 p.m., La Preferida is bustling.
