Golden Gardens Park
Beautiful park on a beach with views of Bainbridge Island. Fire pits at night on the weekends!
If the weather is warm, this is a great place to bring a bag of charcoal and cookout. Lots of sand and a fun scene. It is a western facing beach on the Puget Sound, so the sunsets are terrific, warm or cold. A picnic is fun. Bring a blanket to sit on!
The best sandy beach in Seattle. A festive park with views and activities everywhere. Trains passing by right along the water! Another place for an unforgettable sunset.
This Ballard park includes wetlands, beaches, hiking trails, and picnic and playground areas. Beware of the steep stairway climb up the hill (great for exercise!) and consider opting instead for parking in the lower parking lots near the beach if you'd like a more casual entry to the park.
Beautiful beach sunsets over the Olympic Mountains, and who doesn't like sand between their toes?!
“If you're looking for a great place to run or go for a walk Discovery Park is the place. It has beautiful trails, a lovely beach and some of the best views over Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountains.”
“These historic locks have been operating for over 100 years connecting boats between Lake Union/Lake Washington and the Puget Sound. Be sure to check out the salmon elevator while you're there.”

“Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo is fun for visitors of all ages, but particularly exciting for kids. The grounds are large, so wear walking shoes and plan on at least a half-day to see everything. There are cafes and restaurants inside the zoo, but you are welcome to bring your own food and drink inside, too. The zoo has an excellent blog featuring lots of pictures of their animals, especially newborns, baby gorilla, girraff, penguin chicks, and lion cubs. There's a petting zoo and farm area near the front, and feedings and shows throughout the day — the raptor show is particularly impressive. A free smartphone app allows you to plan your day and make the most of your visit. In summer, the zoo offers a popular concert series called Zoo Tunes, and in fall's Zoo Doo contest, locals actually enter a lottery to win animal manure for composting. Only in Seattle”
