Although this building has suffered significant damage in four major earthquakes, it has existed for almost nine centuries.

Kotor’s most impressive building, this Catholic cathedral was consecrated in the 12th century. Up in the reliquary chapel are some lovely icons, a spooky wooden crucifix (1288) and, behind the grill, assorted body parts of saints including St Tryphon. The early martyr’s importance to both the Catholic and Orthodox churches makes him a fitting patron for the city.
