Meiji Shrine (明治神宮 Meiji Jingū), located in Shibuya, is the Shinto shrine that is dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shōken.
Is the most famous shrines in Japan. Japanese culture and nature can be enjoyed.
The Yamanote line takes you to Harajuku station from Shinjuku and the entrance to the shrine is just behind the station. The loveliest part is the long stroll through beautifully kept grounds, as the tall trees have formed green arches over the paths. The Japanese cicadas are deafening and make a fascinating sound! The shrine itself cannot be entered, but the stroll around pristine gardens is the true highlight.
