Prince Michel Vineyard and Winery
With a restaurant that serves 7 days a week, Prince Michel has some great wines and even has a slushy machine which makes for an awesome outing in the summer. Try their Peach wine/slushy for a sweet, toe curling, relaxing treat!
Prince Michel Vineyard and Winery has a large selection of local wines, gifts and food. It is one of the most well established older wineries in Madison County. Right off of Route 29, they also have live music on the weekends. There is a brewery on the site as well.
Grocery or Supermarket
“Delicious baked goods, ice cream, donuts, cheeses, and locally sourced foods served either in the cafe or that you may purchase at the grocery store. Many of the baked goods and furniture items are made by Amish and Mennonite families. You can stop here to get locally made jellies, canned goods, spices, books, and gifts. FYI, they are closed on Sunday.”
“Bald Top Brewery is the place where locals come to hang out and listen to live music on the weekends. They have Pizza and other food and a large variety of beer and cider, including gluten free options. Located right outside the town of Madison. ”
“An excellent place to stop approximately halfway down. I unfortunately have not been here yet; however, a good friend says that this is one of the best wineries in VA for both the wine and gastronomy.”
“Graves Mountain Lodge offers horseback riding, trout fishing and a restaurant in the lodge. Drive up to the top lodge for a scenic view of the mountains. ”
“If you have some extra time and want to stop by for lunch or dinner about halfway down the road or on the way home in Madison, I cannot recommend this place enough. The food is delicious and the servings ample. You choose your main dish and the group gets to decide on three or four side dishes, which are served to your heart's content! The beer and wine selection is excellent, the homemade bread is delicious, and the desserts are delectable. The Austrian Sachertorte is a perfect way to finish off a hearty meal.”
