Great place to see the African animals. You cant resist a photo of the meerkats....
It's our best zoo. It requires a car to get there. Awesome price, and lots of animals and walking
New Zealand's only open range zoo. 80 hectares that you can explore. The lion encounter is exciting because you venture in a cage and see the animals first hand as they are fed. If you want something quieter Willowbank is a smaller interactive zoo that is close by.
“Willowbank is a local zoo/petting zoo. Its not the cheapest place to go (If you are around for longer its definitely worth to buy a year pass) but an awesome experience. You can feed and pet lots of animals and even see a Kiwi bird in real life! If you are lucky you may also be around for a Haka dance (Native Maori fighting dance) which locals present there occasionally.”
“Canterbury Museum is a free museum, next to the Botanic Gardens. They have fantastic exhibitions throughout the year. ”
“This once a beautiful Church building was badly damaged by the 2011 February quake. ”
