The George at Burpham
"By the locals, for the locals, of the locals - and a very warm welcome to everyone!' Lovely pub, very good food set in picturesque village of Burpham. Essential to book ahead.
Within walking distance of the cottage it's recently been given a smart new look, to which beams, fires and a smugglers' wheel add character. The seasonal menu is full of tasty, popular classics.
It’s a 1 minute drive away from The Cow Hide or a very pretty walk through the village, perfect for an afternoon or evening stroll. Menu changes daily and is seasonal.
“Firstly, it's super handy from my airbnb in Houghton Bridge - just a short walk/ stagger across the road. Secondly, good honest pub grub Thirdly, great staff, super friendly Lastly, brilliant atmosphere. ”
“Our very own local tea room, open March through the high-season. Proper cups and saucers and exceptional homemade cakes, crumpets and scones. Always busy, always delicious!”
“Former London Hilton trained chef who also worked at Caprice. He recently left London, bought the above, & cooks his super food in West Sussex.”
“Sophisticated, eminently interesting and different. An imaginative twist on classic style, without losing any of the Michelin rating! – Tristans is the top restaurant of the Town, Michelin rated, and often needs to be booked well in advance - worth doing ahead of your arrival, if you're a 'foodie'!”
“Swanbourne Lake and the park it is located in is one of my favourite places in Arundel (Particularly out of the busy times) It is a wonderful place to walk with beautiful views across the South Downs. ”
