“Contemporary Arts Society is one of the best kept secrets in London. Their rich programme of (members-only) visits is accompanied by low-key yet great exhibitions in their small space on Central St.”
“A nice way to see a bit of London, get some information about the sights and get around is a hop-on-hop-off bus, such as The Original. There are a couple different operators, look at a couple to see which one has the best deal for you. They usually have sort of a package deal, with free Thames River Cruise or Walking Tours or buy a ticket for some of the attractions combined: London Eye, Madame Tussaud's, London Dungeon, Sea Life, Shrek Adventure, London Zoo, etc. for a reduced price. Even more budget-friendly: wait at a stop for the No. 15 bus between Tower of London and Trafalgar Square.... Sometimes it is operated with a classic Routemaster bus, the classic old red bus! Maybe you'll have to wait for 10-15 minutes for one to comealong, but it will only be £ 1.50 with your Oyster card! The conductor at the back of the bus is always happy to share some details about the bus and its history!”
Point of Interest
“The capital's first helicopter sightseeing tour that doesn't involve schlepping out of London – because you can choose to board, much more conveniently, at Battersea Heliport. The 20-minute trip mostly follows the route of the Thames, between the Isle of Dogs in the east and Barnes in the west, taking in landmarks including Buckingham Palace and The Shard along the way. It doesn't come cheap but it has to be the most exciting way to get to grips with the layout of the city. ”
“PDG = Pretty Damn Good. I've had a lot of margaritas, the good and the bad. So I know a great one and the one I had here made with Mescal instead of Tequila was damn good. The tortilla chips I ordered with salsa were a bit over cooked. And I've had better Chicken Tinga by my own hands but the Chicken Tinga burrito was still very good. And the Frijoles Charros were lovely. ”
