One of our absolutely all time favorite restaurant. if you aren't there by six, you will have to wait. we like to sit at the bar. We have never had a bad meal here. I usually order rock fish over polenta if it is available and David loves the blue plate specials.

Another all time favorite. and again if you aren't there by six you will have to wait or you could go later around eight and possibly not have to wait. I love their shrimp and grits while dave gets the fish and chips. be sure to look at their specials board. we got dumplings one evening and they were awesome.

this is a bar on the pier. you literally are right on top of the ocean. they only serve beer and wine. they have live music most nights. i like to go here for lunch. they have the best tuna salad. its a hike to south nags head but worth it.

Great place to ride your bike or walk your dog. the visitor center is closed for renovations but you can access the monument from colington road at the airport. don't go through the front gate or they will charge you a fee.

Ocracoke is not really a day trip Unless you get up early and to the ferry dock by at least nine. its a two hour trip to the dock and an hour crossing by ferry but it is worth going. a quaint island with lovely beaches. the main beach is assessable by four wheel drive only but there are several accesses to park your car and walk. Eat at Eduardos taco truck parked in the community store parking lot.
On your way to Ocracoke you will pass through Pea Island. It is federal land open to everyone but totally undeveloped. Be aware they are working on the Oregon inlet bridge so there will be travel delays

Duck is truly a walking town. Lots of cool little shops and restaurants. There is a walkway on the sound and they built a beautiful park. Blue Pointe ($$$) has excellent food. Tommy's market for unique food items and sandwiches.
