Welcome to Canyon Country

We are a small society with epic landscapes. Here's a list of our faves for food and tours. Some of the tours will change so please don't be upset if this posting is not completely accurate. Please be nice to the locals. Everyone is working hard to be here for you.
AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER ARE THE BUSIEST MONTHS. BOOK A RESERVATION. NO WALK-INS. Dixie Ellis and Ken are brother and sister. It's the same tour for either one. 10 people per tour guide. There are steep stairs and ladders to take you into the canyon. Lower Antelope Canyon has a larger opening for more light but the trail is more narrow. Whereas Upper Antelope Canyon has a smaller opening with less light and the trail is larger. The biggest difference is the time of day you choose to visit. Upper only has a small window of perfect light. Lower will be visible throughout the day. NOT advised for pregnant or elder. Please see Canyon X

We have not ventured into this canyon. Our guide from lower mentioned Lower Antelope has a convex opening so more light enters the canyon. Whereas Upper Antelope has a concave opening so less lights enters the canyon. Upper Antelope Canyon will have small window of perfect lighting for great photos. Whereas, Lower Antelope Canyon will have visibility throughout the day. If you want to experience both please check out Waterholes Canyon. August and September are the busiest months in the season. It's possible these tours do not take walk-ins. Please make advanced reservations for all tours.

LOVE!!! LOVE!!! This has been my favorite paid tour in this area. Two hour tour in the canyon vs one hour for the other tours. Each tour has around 12 people every thirty minutes. We parked and were transported in a van to the beginning of the hike. Waterholes Canyon has lower and upper geological formations. Its the best tour for your money.

SAVE THEM ALL!!! Great humanitarians for saving all the animals. I made this post specifically for what they do. Although they offer more than a great sanctuary for helping all animals... They have an incredible ALL YOU CAN EAT lunch 11-1 . It's only $5 but a donation to the society would be great. The views at the cafeteria are monumental. Especially when you are sitting outside to have your vegetarian lunch. Oh yeah... How could they run a legitimate animal sanctuary if they served the animals they are saving.

Can't get to the WAVE... The Chains is second best. Seriously... The best views and refreshing dip in the Colorado snow waters. You will have a view of the dam from the north side. There's not much for sand so when the wind blows (as it does often) you're not pelted with small rock bullets. Drive all the way to the parking lot with the restrooms. Park. Walk to towards the water for a swim. Pass the park signs, down the hill going into the first major rock formation, follow it to the right a bit. Turn left to find a narrow opening between two large rock formations. Go down. BE CAREFUL!!! Go diagonal down and corner back to the right. keep looking for easy ways to get to the water. It's a bit of trek and the water levels rise and fall throughout the year. But... It's so worth it. JUMP IN... The water is cool and refreshing. It's melted snow. What more could you ask for? lol I have only seen schools of fish. The water is so clear, it's possible to see about 30' down. Wear shoes when walking. Muscle shells dry up and will cut your feet. Some fishermen will leave hooks and they will also hurt really bad. When you're walking out, you will see the formation similar to THE WAVE. Have fun!!!

Or... use my paddle boards for a donation. The boards can be strapped to all cars except for convertibles. This company suggests you go into the Antelope Canyon Marina. There you will take a left and go into the canyons. Oddly, the water flow will lead you into the Lower Antelope Canyon. It's at least a three mile paddle with another one mile hike. It's worth it if you have the strength and want to venture on the water. Remember... You will have to paddle back the same amount as you went in. The winds can be trying to amateur paddlers. I will strap you down at my place and have you unload at Lone Rock Beach. There you will be able to dry close to the water. You will paddle either left or right. Left will be Lone Rock. It's easy and the boats, most of the time, will slow down for you.

Big group? 10 people will have so much fun renting a flat bottom boat to tour through Lake Powell. Be sure to go to the right of the marina and stop just a little ways away from the marina. If you look closely, there's a rope swing about 30' high, Trapeze Cove. It's a great adventure for climbers and extreme sportsmen... women. The boat is weighty but it will pull an inner tube on the back. You have to rent the tube separate. Bring food, drinks, swimsuit, towels, and good vision. There's a market on the docks but it's pricey. The marina has a cart service to assist you in your groceries and misc bags. You will be on the lake in the sun so take towels to sit on and dry off with. It gets windy so tie down all items. The water levels go up and down throughout the year so watch your driving for rock formations just under the surface. HAVE FUN and STAY SAFE!!!

SWIM!!! SWIM!!! SWIM!!! It's a beach in the desert. OK?!!! Adam likes to swim to LONE ROCK. It's about a one mile there and back to the beach. The water is nice and the fish hardly come around you while swimming. I unload my paddle boards and take them around this area to explore. We've found some really cool places to dock, walk around, and swim.

Bike... Hike... Walk around the beautiful Rim Trail of Page, AZ. Ten miles of epic landscapes and stunning views of the Colorado River flow. Wear protection from the sun and wind. It gets hot during the middle of the day. Early morning and late afternoon hikes are best to avoid sun exposure. And... there's some amazing sunrise and sunsets to see while trailing along.
