A very special venue for excellent plays put on in the round, in the park by Chesters Storyhouse Theatre. A must see in the summer. Theres usually a choice of 3 or 4 amazing plays ranging from children's classics to Shakespeare. Take a picnic and some wine and enjoy.
“There's usually something going on here and even if there are no art exhibitions or recitals when you visit, the cathedral is still worth looking around. Also make sure you check out the lovely Grade II-listed Georgian Abbey Square next to the cathedral. The Bishop's House is here and also look out for the two sandstone cottages built in 1626. We lived in number 13 for a while, so if you want some insider information on the interior, just ask.”
“ A great day out, check out the website for race day dates, normally May - September”
“Adjacent to the Town Hall, the Storyhouse is not only a theatre but also a cinema and library. It has a great coffee shop where you can stop, rest and read.”
“Great coffee, great breakfasts, great lunches, great cakes, great people watching. Jaunty is a real hub of energy. ”
“Perfect for a casual drop in - you can't book. This restaurant is tiny and you sit where you can. Ideal for couples and small groups, its dark and intimate. Tapas is served as and when its ready and is always excellent. Great outdoor seating area in front of the restaurant for summer nights. Located right at the top of Northgate St next to the Roman Walls. Open from 5pm daily.”
