This is a great place for those who has special interests in history, culture, and photography. Not everyone notice its presence on his first sight. have a local people to guide you and tell the history would be beneficial. Just park your car in the mataram royal tomb and start your walk to the between two gates nearby. there are several historical javanese traditional houses facing each other separated by a small alley with two white gates at the ends that brings to the atmosphere of 17th century. You may continue your trip with visiting masjid gede and shopping at kotagede silvers nearby. Note that on LEGI of javanese calender (every other 5 days) the access to kotagede is busier due to increasing activities in the traditional market.
