If you brave a dip in a cold mountains pool under a waterfall, try Empress Falls. The final pool for the Empress canyoning trip, but you can just jump in yourself any time. Jump off the big rocks on the side, it's a deep and sandy bottom. Prepare to have tourists giving you strange looks though. Finish you dip with lunch back at Conservation Hut.

There are walking tracks from the back of the cottage to the Valley of the Waters and beautiful Empress Falls. For the adventurous, there are groups that go canyoning into, and abseiling down, the Empress Falls waterfall. On hot days take your towel and swim at the base of the falls.

The Empress falls hiking trail can be accessed from the Conservation hut, or the trail that starts at the end of Murphys lane if you want to do a walk with more lookouts first. For a gentler day, follow the 'nature walk' signed just before you dive down into the last flight of stair, there you will find a gorgeous secret upper waterfall with a table and bench and rockpools for a picnic. We take our toddler there. For the more adventurous, go canyoning in Empress Canyon, or hike down into the valley and traverse the valley to come up at Wentworth falls

A favourite swimming hole in summer. Right at the foot of the falls. 20 mins hike in from the carpark.
