Lankatilaka Vihara is an ancient Buddhist temple situated in Udunuwara of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located on Daulagala road approximately 4 km away from Pilimatalawa junction and a few kilometres from the ancient buddhist temple, Gadaladeniya Vihara.
This is a beautiful historical temple, without all the crowds of The Temple of the Tooth. It is situated on a high rock, and has marvellous views of the surrounding countryside. The temple contains a Hindu and a Buddhist Shrine, and has lovely old paintings. It also has one of the most magical Peraheras (Buddhist Festival) in the area if you happen to come in September. And you are unlikely to see another tourist!

A fascinating example of Kandyan architecture. "Take the bus to Kadugaanawa/Mawanella. Get down at the Lankathilaka junction close to Pilimatalawa. .the road on the left leads to three amazing places which is education for any Srilankan who studies architecture -namely Gadaladeniya temple ,Lankathilaka temple,Ambekke Devale. Of them Lankathilaka is one unique piece of art in cement and wood which beautifully mix the traditions of South India with the home grown culture unique to Kandyan kingdom"
