The trip to the Aegean Sea is not complete unless you visit the Ammthyns of Limnos, a breathtaking phenomenon. May the monuments of culture cause admiration and remain inscribed in history and eternity, but when the great nature transcends any boundary. And this is what happens in the Ammothinos of Lemnos. It is a sandy area, but it is not located on a beach or some sandy beach on the island. Ammthyns of Lemnos are a desert "miniature" such as those found in Sahara and North Africa. Πρόκειται για μια αμμώδη έκταση, που όμως δεν βρίσκεται σε κάποια παραλία ή σε κάποια αμμώδη ακτή του νησιού. Οι Αμμοθίνες Λήμνου είναι μια «μικρογραφία» ερήμου, όπως αυτές που συναντούμε στη Σαχάρα και τη βόρεια Αφρική. Καλύπτουν έκταση περίπου 70 στρεμμάτων στην περιοχή Γομάτι και θάλασσα δεν θα δείτε παρά μόνο στο βάθος. Για να προσεγγίσετε τις Αμμοθίνες Λήμνου θα ακολουθήσετε το δρόμο από το χωριό Κατάλακκο, στο βορειοδυτικό μέρος του νησιού, ενώ από κάποιο σημείο και μετά θα πρέπει να περπατήσετε για να φτάσετε στο μοναδικής ομορφιάς αξιοθέατο. Ενημερωτικές πινακίδες θα σας πληροφορήσουν καταλλήλως.
