The back area of this big biergarten is filled with communal picnic tables and it's first come, first served. It's great for a casual night out because you know what to expect: a pitcher of beer and a burger or bratwurst. People love the grilled cheese sandwiches, too. Bring cash, prepare yourself for heavy metal and rock music blasting inside the bar, and don't mess with the bouncer or bartenders. They also have solid Bloody Marys, which are sometimes extremely necessary.
Less than a five-minute walk, you will stumble into this casual beer garden, on the corner of Valencia/Duboce, that is always lively and has a large selection of beers and drinks.
One a nice warm day it doesn't get any better than drinking outside in this beer garden! Cash only and pretty divey, grab some brews and drink outside with friends.
Very hip Belgian hangout, serving beer, simple mixed drinks, & hot food to soak it up. Gorgeous outdoor area is the heart of this Thursday-night standard.
“Another excellent coffee shop. The home coffee brewing class ($35) is interesting and fun.”
“Little Star Pizza specialises in gourmet, Chicago-style deep dish and thin crust pizzas with signature cornmeal crust. They use quality, responsibly-sourced food and non-GMO ingredients. ”
“So sadly recently closed! :( 3 minutes walk. Fresh pastries and coffee (pastries are made on-site daily) and available for dine-in or carry-out . ”
“When the weather is nice, you can barely see the grass due to the throngs of people lounging around. Luckily, the park was recently renovated and is big enough that you're bound to find a spot you like. The southwest corner is good for a panoramic view of the city skyline (and usually far enough away from the folks enjoying their herbal refreshments on the northern slope). There's also a nice kid's playground, although it's geared more towards older kids.”
“A “Bible-thick beer list”, including an “encyclopedic selection” of Belgian varieties, has “everything” brew buffs “could ask for” at this “cozy” Mission gastropub with an “obscenely knowledgeable” staff (“Did these people all go to beer school?”); the kitchen puts a “high-class spin on traditional pub fare” and the crowd is “lively and fun”, but “get here early” “if you want a seat” (even with renovations that added new interior and sidewalk seats), and prepare for the tab to “set you back a few paychecks.””
